Slowly working on bottlecapping a tiny porch...

Slowly... it came along.

Alien Art Show in Joshua Tree

Two pieces I made for an alien themed art show at La Matadora art gallery in Joshua Tree.

"LOOK INTO MY EYES"

Look into my eyes mosaic alien head

"AN ENORMOUS, EXTREMELY UGLY OBJECT, SILVER AND SCALY, WITH A SORT OF WIRE-WHISK-LIKE-THING ON THE END" AKA: "ALIEN PROBE"

Alien Probe

Mosaic Madness

I took a mosaic class with Perry who crated the Tile House in Wonder Valley. I already knew the basics, but one thing I really learned and took away from this class was using more three dimensional pieces rather than all flat tiles. It's a lot harder to grout, but so worth it! I used a picture frame, little beads, a plastic animal, I love how it turned out. Funky and fun!

Taxidermied Tarantula

This was my first time doing taxidermy on a spider. I bought it from a local pet store where it arrived dead, so they couldn't sell it. It was frozen. Brought it home and did some googling to figure out how to preserve it. I cut the abdomen open and cut out the innards, and stuffed it with some cotton. There wasn't much to cut and scrape out. Then I pinned it and left it in the freezer for a few weeks to freeze dry it. I thought it turned out rather nice.

Frozen and closed up.

Pinned.

Freezer shot while drying.

My boyfriend is afraid of spiders so I dressed the tarantula up to make him look "friendly." It worked! Kinda reminds me of the cartoon Squidbillies

Barbie Wept

Made for a group art show at La Matadora gallery, in Joshua Tree, December 2018.

"Barbie Wept" 2018

And another version of "The Last Super Barbie Cooked" 2018. SOLD

Five Dollar Swap Meet Score!

I'll post the AFTER pic when I am done with this!

And the transformation has been completed! Used a big box of fishing lures I got at a yard sale, and a bunch of hardware (keys, springs) I got from a local hardware store that gave me a bunch of old junk.
