This was my first time doing taxidermy on a spider. I bought it from a local pet store where it arrived dead, so they couldn't sell it. It was frozen. Brought it home and did some googling to figure out how to preserve it. I cut the abdomen open and cut out the innards, and stuffed it with some cotton. There wasn't much to cut and scrape out. Then I pinned it and left it in the freezer for a few weeks to freeze dry it. I thought it turned out rather nice.
Frozen and closed up.
Pinned.
Freezer shot while drying.
My boyfriend is afraid of spiders so I dressed the tarantula up to make him look "friendly." It worked! Kinda reminds me of the cartoon Squidbillies!
